Assam is undoubtedly a pearl among black teas - noble, with a deep taste, it is recognized all over the world. It owes its name to the northeastern province of India.
The tea comes from the Assam region, therefore it has some characteristic features:
Flavor profile: strong black tea, with tannin notes, leaves are equally from the first and from the second harvest
Climate/terrain: mountains and valleys at high altitude, sheltered by the Himalayas; heavy rainfall, especially in the monsoon season; high humidity, especially in the rainy season
Location: Brahmaputra Valley, 193km east of Darjeeling, near the border with China, Burma and Bangladesh.
Estate / Plantations: Harmutty
This tea is harvested twice a year - the first collection takes place at the end of March, the second at the turn of June and July. The taste of Assam tea is strongly associated with the region where it comes from - high temperatures and humidity levels, as well as intense rainfall cause that the brew acquires outstanding flavor. You can find barley, honey, caramel and nut notes in it - they make it impossible to confuse it with any other.
Assam is not only the region that produces the most tea in India, but also around the world - there are about 2,000 plantations here, and is also famous for the highest quality teas.
SFTGFOP1 (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) mark - what does it mean?
OP is a tea with long, pointed leaves larger than FOP, rarely containing tips. The letter F (Flowery) means that the tea consists of the first two leaves and the bud. Contains nail tips, but not as much as the higher markings.
In this case, Golden means golden tips at the end of the leafy buds that give the tea nobility.
Tippy in this case means a large amount of gold tips and thus a more careful selection of leaves, which makes up the final product. This marking means that our tea has golden tips
Finest (F) means really excellent quality - only such teas get this mark.
Special (S) indicates that the leaves have been carefully selected and only the best ones have been selected.
Assam is an excellent choice for tea gourmets, especially in the morning. Strong brew stimulates, adds energy. Supports the work of the digestive system and accelerates digestion. The tea has an intense burgundy color.
